Biography

Poker is a game that attracts a whole lot of people from different walks of life.  In the United States, there are many players who attend poker tournaments, and not all of them are Americans.  These players include foreigners like Nenad "Serb" Medic of Canada and players who have different ancestry, like the Vietnamese-born Chau Giang, and Annand "Victor" Ramdin.

Born on the 28th of May 1968 in South America's Georgetown, Annand Ramdin is now a certified New Yorker residing in The Bronx and is working as a poker player professionally.  He is fairly new in the realm of poker, having started only in 2002.  This came after he became interested in seeing people in bars play frequently and was followed by being trained by Phil Ivey.

Starting a Career Playing Poker
Annand Ramdin started joining poker tourneys during 2003 when he joined the World Series of Poker (WSOP) contest for the very first time.  He joined the tables for the $2,000 pot limit Texas hold'em event.  Aside from that, Annand Ramdin also joined the $10,000 no limit hold'em where he finished an impressive 29th spot.  During the said year, he has also made an impressive play at the Showdown of the Sands tourney, finishing at the 3rd spot.

For the 2004 Season 3 championship of the World Poker Tour (WPT), Annand Ramdin also showed an amazing game as he was able to finish in one of the high spots, as well as during the United States Poker Championship.  In the succeeding year, he was fortunate enough to make to the PartyPoker Million V Cruise final table.  Around the same time, Annand Ramdin also won in the WPT Foxwoods Poker Classic by beating Alex Jacob with his final hand.

Combining all of his previous earnings, Annand Ramdin can boast of earning $2,200,000 by 2007 for live poker tournaments.  Due to his growing popularity and skills in poker playing, he is now a member of the Team PokerStars of the PokerStars online poker card room.

His Life Outside the Poker Tables

Like the other poker players, Annand Ramdin has a life that does not revolve around the game.  In fact, Annand Ramdin is also busy with his philanthropic pursuits.  He goes to Guyana together with doctors and assists in their charity work.  Among his favorite charities is the one founded by Varshnie Jagdeo, the Guyanan First Lady, and he gave the $100,000 in order to help in the heart treatment of four adults and 13 children.

Annand Ramdin also enjoys other hobbies that are not related to Poker.  He plays darts and nine ball billiards during his spare time.

Annand Ramdin may be a relative newbie when it comes to playing poker professionally, but it would seem that his wins are unexpected in such a short period of time.  Considering the rate of Annand Ramdin's winnings, it is safe to say that he has been improving and it wouldn't be long until he becomes a member of the elite circle of poker players who have their own fan base, even if he does not do something controversial like Vinnie Vinh.
