Biography Poker fans may not be familiar with the name Chris Bjorin. This is because he has preferred to maintain a low profile, shying away from televised poker matches and interviews. Despite his shyness, however, his experience in the world of poker is undeniable, having been a common fixture in the World Series of Poker since the 1990s. Chris packs a lot of influence especially in the UK circuit. Although born in Sweden, he is now residing in London, England where he has made a name for himself.
Chris Bjorin has not appeared in any championship table of the World Poker Tour (WPT). However, he did manage to qualify to the final round of the Professional Poker Tour (PPT), a series of tournaments organized by the World Poker Tour Enterprises-- the firm responsible for organizing the World Poker Tour. In addition, he has a couple of World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets tucked under his belt. The first one he won during the 1997 was the $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha Event, where he pocketed a total winnings of $169,200. He emerged on top again four years later when he competed in the $3,000 No Limit Hold'em tournament, winning the top prize of $334,110.
Chris Bjorin's game is best fitted to No Limit Hold'em. He did well in most of the tournaments that he joined at. He advanced to the main event of $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em WSOP in 1992, 1997, and 2001 respectively.
In 2002, Chris Bjorin was given a citation by Card Player Magazine. He was given the "Player of the Year" and "Mr. Nice Guy" awards respectively. Outside of gambling, Chris likewise indulges in sports betting. He qualified for the championship round of the 2002 $5,000 Hall of Fame Poker Classic. It was a long and arduous climb for Chris as he won three different varieties of poker games and qualified in seven No-Limit Hold'Em championship rounds. Aside from that, a total of 54 high caliber competitors, including the likes of Erik Seidel and Phil Hellmuth, participated in the said tournament. A total of 136 players competed for the money pool worth P1,360,000. In that event, Chris garnered $21,355 as prize money. Adding to that, in June 2007, he competed in the 38th edition of the World Series of Poker where he entered in four events. Chris won a total prize money of $305,633.
Chris Bjorin has a son named Elon who wants to follow his footsteps. Although Elon wants his father to show him the tricks of the game, Chris wants his to son to learn by himself. Finally, Chris vowed to give Elon a sailboat if he wins a match at the 2001 World Series of Poker. He was a man of his word after winning his second title that year. Currently ranked 168th in ProRank1, Chris Bjorin's total earnings has now reached $3,100,000.
