Upcoming events prove that for many professional Poker players, there is more to life than cards, and they acknowledge that by using their professional standings to support a number of good causes. Here are some of the upcoming events in the Poker world that support various charities and causes.

All In for a Cure – Poker Pledge Program by Poker Players International

This charitable cause supports finding a cure for a certain type of kidney disease by offering proceeds to the Nephrotic Syndrome and Focal Segmental Glomerulsclerosis (FSGS). Players, both professional and amateur who participate in tournaments are encouraged to join this program and pledge 1% of their winnings to go towards this cause. Well known professionals, such as Lee Childs (WSOP 2007 final table), Jason Young (2008 WSOP bracelet winner), Frank Vizza (WSOP circuit champion), along with Gene Castro (Poker Players International founder), and the marketing development leader Eric Siegel.

Annie Duke Celebrity Poker Tournament

This charity tournament that takes place on November 19th will be in support of the Decision Education Foundation. This event is sponsored by Club WPT and will be a No Limit Hold Em Tournament with $300 +$30 entrance fees and $100 rebuys. This tournament will have prize pools around $45K.

The Bad Beat on Cancer Challenge

PokerNews is sponsoring the Bad Beat for Cancer Challenge. Proceeds will go to the prevent cancer foundation, and is in honour of professional Poker player, Nicole Rowe, who recently underwent an operation to treat breast cancer. This event will take place online at Poker Stars on November 12th. The buy-in for this event is just $10 with $10 rebuys, so all players can join in on the action. This event is geared more towards amateur Poker players, since prizes valued at over $24,000 will also include coaching sessions from America’s most renowned pros.
