Hawks on Hot Seat Against Spurs

The Atlanta Hawks might not be on the fast track to the NBA Finals, but so long as 16 teams qualify for the postseason, they’re an intriguing – if unpredictable – NBA betting option. This Saturday, fans and oddsmakers will get an opportunity to gauge just how dangerous the Hawks might be when they line up against the Western Conference gem San Antonio Spurs.

With Joe Johnson off in Brooklyn, both the spotlight and responsibility of leading the perennial up-and-comer Hawks to new heights has fallen on a committee. While the controversial Josh Smith has taken the reins as Atlanta’s go-to scorer, the finally healthy Al Horford and breakout point guard Jeff Teague have shouldered parts of the load.

The transition, however, hasn’t pushed them any higher up the NBA futures.

Although a playoff berth is well within reach for Atlanta, the fact of the matter is that their odds of winning the NBA championship may have peaked. While Eastern rivals Miami and Boston reload and stay very much atop the totem pole, the Hawks have done little to close the gap.

Still, with a roster as talented as Atlanta’s – a club who’s managed to quietly qualify for the playoffs in each of the past five seasons – nothing is impossible. See for yourself if this is the year it all comes together at Bovada.
