New Orleans Hornets Make Case For Elite Status In West

The New Orleans Hornets will head west this week in defense of a recent hot streak that has helped them ascend the Western Conference standings. The rise to the top of the pile wouldn’t be the first time this season. After a torrid 2010-11 start in November the Hornets sloughed off as the year progressed.

Now heading in the second half of the season, the Hornets look poised to finish what they started when it debuted.

Though it might be hard to rank the Hornets ahead of a team like the reigning champion Los Angeles Lakers, it’s not unreasonable to imagine superstar point guard Chris Paul positioning his franchise in the upper echelon of the league’s elite.

To bet on the New Orleans Hornets, check out the Bodog online sportsbook.

Though they missed out on the post-season altogether last season, they’re just three years removed from leading the Southwest Division with a 56-26 record that put Paul and the franchise on the map in 2008.

Through the first 45 games of this season the Hornets have posted a 29-16 record, currently trailing the Lakers and San Antonio Spurs for west supremacy. As always, it has been point guard Paul powering their dominance.

Averaging just over 16 points per game and nearly 10 assists, Paul has set his team up for success, specifically partner in crime David West. With just under 19 points per game, West leads the franchise in limited minutes, a testament to the depth of the roster.

With West scoring, Paul orchestrating the offense, and big man Emeka Okafor contributing as much as ever defensively, the core is in place for a franchise to compete down the stretch for home court advantage in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

If the team can continue their hot play of late on the road this week, you may see those odds improve.

Woman Wins $12.7 Million Jackpot

A Las Vegas tourist, who was in town visiting her niece for her birthday, changed her life forever on Friday while playing a Megabucks slot machine at the Aria Hotel and Casino after winning a $12.7 million jackpot.

According to the Las Vegas Review Journal, the woman hit the Megabucks jackpot after playing a total of $6. “I was on my way to my room when I saw this machine and decided to play,” she said. Once the woman achieved the winning combination, she thought the machine had malfunctioned and had no idea she had won. It was her niece that actually noticed the machine had struck a winning combination awarding the $12 million prize; otherwise, the woman may just have walked away.

Now that she’s a millionaire, the Megabucks winner claims she is going to pay off her mortgage and hopefully buy her niece a really nice birthday present.

Megabucks slot machines are part of a special network linking over 150 casinos throughout the state of Nevada which means if someone scores a jackpot, then they are winning cash accumulated from Megabucks slots from around the state.

Megabucks creators claim that the largest jackpot awarded was $39 million back in 2003 from a player in the Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. They say the odds of winning are 1 in 49,836,032 but one can dream…

2011 NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft Odds

The NHL All-Star Player Fantasy Draft will be held for the first time in league history on Friday, January 28 in anticipation of the All-Star Game in Raleigh, Carolina two days later. Bodog’s online sportsbook has put together odds on which player will be the first one taken and, also, who will be the last one drafted.

Eric Staal of the Carolina Hurricanes and Nicklas Lidstrom of the Detroit Red Wings have been chosen as the team captains, so they’re out of the running for both categories. In addition, two alternate captains for each team will be named later and will assist the captains in the selection process.

Henrik Sedin & Alex Ovechkin

So let’s get to who goes first. There are two favourites, Vancouver’s Henrik Sedin, the reigning MVP of the league, and Washington’s Alex Ovechkin, a fairly decent player himself. Both Sedin and Ovechkin are getting 4/1 odds to be selected first overall. After that it’s Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby at 5/1, followed by the Lightning’s star sniper, Steven Stamkos, at 7/1.

It will be interesting to see how the captains play this. Get all your NHL All-Star props at Bodog Sportsbook!

EwalletXpress Regretfully Apologize to US Gamblers

The Magic 8 Ball should have told US players what was in the cards for EwalletXpress and their casino accounts in a matter of minutes back in November with the tell tale signs making an appearance once again at a frequently used payment processor, EwalletXpress. When players across the US tried to access their EwalletXpress accounts on that cold winter day and found that there was “no access” available and just a little note explaining that upgrades were taking place and accounts would be available soon. Hopes of a easy solution were prayed for across the US but when players started noticing one by one that banking options were suspiciously absent from their accounts, no deposit methods available a bit of déjà vu started taking over.

Still players held out hope, because EwalletXpress were sticking with their “technical” issues as the reason for the unavailability to players, but why just US players? Clients of EwalletXpress started realizing after days and days of no change in their accounts that the days of EwalletXpress were coming to an end because the “big bad wolf” huffed and puffed and confiscated their money! That’s right, the Federal Government once again seized a payment processor and yes Virginia, kept all the players money! When will the madness end?

EwalletXpress, finally has made a statement to their customers admitting the seizure and confiscation of players funds and have explained in their own words that their hands are tied and are not able to address the issues until given permission by the Feds because they are negotiating with them and confidentiality was necessary. A Statement from EwalletXpress had this to say, “At this point we must regretfully inform you that our funds and accounts were seized by the US government as part of a confidential investigation. We have contacted the US investigating agencies and are currently negotiating with them at present. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused any players and due to the sensitivity of the situation, we were not able to notify our players at an earlier time and we sincerely regret this and apologize. We are grateful for your years of patronage to our company over the years and are trying our best to resolve this matter quickly.”

No one can answer if players will ever get their funds returned to them even though gambling online is NOT illegal in the US. Only the banking and financial businesses are performing illegal activities when they process players winnings, not the players at all, so why they should have to forfeit their money still needs addressing by the federal government . However, if past experience shows us anything, don’t hold your breath for any funds being returned, just look under the federal governments Christmas trees this next Christmas and say “Your Welcome”.

(When NETELLER shut down four years ago after its founders were arrested by U.S. authorities, U.S. players who had money on the e-wallet seized had to wait more than six months to receive their money.)

Improving Your Experience With Bodog Poker Software Upgrade

Bodog has announced that the gaming and entertainment site’s acclaimed online poker software, has undergone an upgrade to provide a more streamlined experience to players. Among the changes that poker fans will see on the site are an improved login system, easier access to the games you want and other changes that boil down to one simple thing: you’ll be clicking less and playing more.

These improvements have been made after the Bodog Poker team listened to players’ feedback and observed how they used the software. All of the changes made to the software have a single goal: to improve your experience when playing at Bodog Poker and if you’ve not tried playing poker at Bodog, there’s no better time to start! In addition to offering a breadth of payment options and Bodog offers new players a 110% bonus that gives them up to $1100 extra to use when playing online poker. Bodog to Deal Billionth Blackjack Hand

January 20, 2011, London, England – Bodog, the first and biggest name in online gaming, announced today it is closing in on 1,000,000,000 blackjack hands in its online casino. Major online poker rooms, including Bodog, have hit similar milestones in poker. However, in terms of blackjack, Bodog is many milestones ahead of the pack.

In an industry where trust is everything, Bodog’s 16-year longevity and brand essence have created both credibility and loyalty in a crowded market.

To celebrate this impressive level of success, Bodog Casino is offering thousands in cash prizes and a chance to win one of two once-in-a-lifetime billionaire’s experience grand prizes.

From now until the billionth blackjack hand is dealt, Bodog Casino will award players who hit a perfect blackjack hand with an entry into the draw for the billionaire’s experience. To count down the final 21 million blackjack hands en route to the billionth, Bodog will give away $1,000 to every player who plays one of the millionth milestone hands. All cash prize winners will automatically be entered into the billionaire’s experience drawing.

In addition, the lucky billionth blackjack hand player will automatically win a second billionaire’s experience giveaway.

Much like Bodog’s founder Calvin Ayre, the lucky billionaire’s experience winners will live a life of luxury, excitement and prestige – but for a few days, of course. Winners will choose between an exciting trip to the 2011 Monaco Grand Prix or frolicking on a private island in Fiji.

The more players enjoying playing blackjack in the Bodog Casino, the higher their chances to win prize money and gain entries into the billionaire’s experience grand prize draw.

Bodog anticipates the billionth blackjack hand to be dealt by the end of February, 2011. For more details on the billionaire’s experience, visit the Bodog.com Casino Promotions page.

Ales Hemsky Out Indefinitely With Concussion

For a team already at the bottom of the NHL standings, the Edmonton Oilers have sure had a lot of insult added to their injury. Or should that be injury to their insult?

Regardless, the 14-24-7 Oilers have been dealt yet another blow, this time to forward Ales Hemsky who has already once this season missed considerable time with an injury. Though he’s played just 32 of his teams 13 games so far, Hemsky will be out of action for the foreseeable future as well as he nurses the effects of a concussion sustained originally on Tuesday night.

In the limited action that Hemsky has played for the club, the 27-year-old Czech has managed an impressive 29 points, earning a spot on the 2011 NHL All-Star Game for his efforts. Unfortunately it doesn’t appear as though he’ll be able to cash in on the honor.

After getting the first overall pick in the 2010 NHL Draft, Edmonton fans knew that they would be in for a treat watching the development of super rookie Taylor Hall. The fact that he was soon grouped with Jordan Eberle and Magnus Paajarvi as the future of the franchise only made the 2010-11 season more intriguing.

Unfortunately the year of player progression, trial by fire and ongoing instruction from team veterans Hemsky, (team captain) Shawn Horcoff and Sheldon Souray hasn’t gone as planned. If it hasn’t been one thing, it’s been another, first Souray’s demotion to the AHL following a team relationship turned sour, and then injuries to Hemsky and Horcoff.

Even Eberle has missed significant time with an injured ankle.

Will things get better for the Oilers? Undoubtedly. Will they get better this year? Probably not.

Though the club has 400/1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup this year, the only realistic Oilers play options will be in individual NHL betting games.

Octomom Nadya Suleman Stars in Baby Fetish Film

After realizing that when you have 14 kids, you also should have some sort of income, Octomom is getting closer and closer to resorting to porn. Nadya Suleman, famous for giving birth to octuplets she gave birth to in January, 2009 via in vitro fertilization even though she had six other kids (all while being unemployed), has recently been in danger of foreclosure since defaulting on her loan. The porn company Vivid Entertainment has been courting the single mother of 14, offering her heaps of cash and even contemplating buying out her mortgage in an attempt to get her to shoot a porno. Are there that many people willing to purchase an Octomom sex tape?

Back in early January, Vivid CEO Steven Hirsch met with Amer Haddadin, the man who holds the $450,000 note on Suleman’s home and has threatened to put her and her kids on the street if she doesn’t pay up.

Back in September, Hirsch fired off a letter to Suleman that said, “We have an easy and ready solution for you to relieve yourself of this financial problem. We are offering you the opportunity to perform in one scene, for one hour in one of our movies and we will pay you up to $500,000.

“We can arrange for this to happen quickly so that you will get paid in advance of your October deadline.”

However, Suleman turned down his offer, repeatedly saying that she would never “demean herself” by resorting to porn to pay her bills, but now it seems, she will do fetish videos. Photos of Octomom whipping a bearded man creepily donning a diaper and baby bonnet have now been posted on TMZ and Rick.com. The photos were obviously taken at Octo’s house, where some of her kid’s toys are used as props.

On the other side of the coin, although she only has herself to blame for the position she’s in, at least she’s trying to save her house without taking off her clothes – even though the photo shoot is totally gross. A mother will stop at nothing to make sure her kids are fed and clothed and taken care of and if that means whipping a man dressed as a baby, so be it.

Suleman even took a celebrity bartending gig at Carlos’ n Charlie’s in Ontario, California, but as we previously speculated, after paying out the babysitter, she probably walked away with $10.

What do you think? Is Octomom trying to get attention? Or is she doing the right thing by her children? Sound off in our comments section! Head over to the Bodog Sportsbook for all your celebrity odds. If you need an account, Join Bodog today.

Isildur1 Revealed, May Face Tax Bill

It’s been the talk of the internet for the past few days as high-stakes cash game player Isildur1 revealed his face to the world and signed up to be an online poker pro for one of the largest sites in the business. Viktor Blom gets more than just a sweet endorsement deal at the site where he’s been playing in so-called “nosebleed” games for the last couple of years, however – he may just end up owing up to $149,000,00 in taxes to the Swedish government.

However, the claims seem tenuous at best as Sweden is specifically looking for online poker rooms that claim to be overseas but have a large presence in the country. The last time I checked, there were no Sweden-based online poker rooms, but that doesn’t prevent newspapers like Dagens Nyheter from speculating that Blom could owe more than the GDP for many third world nations.

Tax authorities refused to comment on whether Blom was in their sights, despite confirming the wide-ranging probe.

“Internet poker is something we’re looking into and I know this poker player, but I can’t comment on whether we’ve opened a case,” tax agency spokesperson Erik Boman said

China MegaWild Slot Machine

Hey, guess what?  Bodog Casino has added a new slot machine called China MegaWild and it comes with plenty of added features and winning combinations that just may lead to mega cash. It’s a Chinese wonderland full of plenty of bonus features and whimsical characters for a cash-filled trip to the Far East.

China Mega Wild comes with five reels and twenty pay lines filled with a definite Chinese flair including tigers, lotus flowers, pandas and fun artifacts associated with the ancient culture.  Players will want to look out for the dragon which acts as a WILD and will substitute for many symbols to help you create special winning combinations.  An added bonus to the WILD symbol is that when it appears on reel 3, it triggers the MEGAWILD feature which converts all symbols into wilds and pays out three times the cash.

A second bonus feature of China MegaWild slots is the mighty multiplier symbol, in this case a Chinese woman, which doubles when appearing during special winning combinations.

MegaWild slot machine gives you plenty of opportunities to make some serious cash and as you have probably heard before, betting the max amount of paylines gives you that extra edge you need to score higher payouts.  Good luck and have fun!

MasterCard Lobbying For US Online Gambling Regulations

Many may think that their MasterCard and Visa credit cards are the thorn in online gamblers side’s because of their refusal to processor online gambling transactions. But on the contrary. Both credit card companies support online gambling regulation in the US. Since the UIGEA bill went in full effect in 2010, both companies have had to adhere to the new laws and enforce the no transaction rules, but they are not happy about the situation and have even lobbied Congress for internet gambling regulations!

MasterCard has spent hundreds of thousands, actually about $840,000 in lobbying the government for a few issues in the last quarter of 2010 and one of those issues is online gambling. Both MasterCard and Visa are losing millions of dollars if not billions in online gambling transactions and would like to see that business coming back their way. But alas their efforts to make Congress hear their reasons fell on deaf ears. But  in 2010 more key legislators did join in the support of both Senator Harry Reid’s & Barney Franks bills, but the new incoming Congress wants no part of either. Both credit card companies are waiting to see what happens with “intrastate” gambling in the states of California, New Jersey and Florida because they would consider processing transactions for online casinos in those states if they can prove that it does not break the UIGEA bill.

MasterCard continued to lobby for Internet gaming regulations in the US.

Bodog Poker’s Nine Days of The November Nine: Jason Senti

An electrical engineer and musician turned poker pro, Jason Senti (also known as “PBJaxx” in online poker circles) may be the low man on the totem pole at the final table of the 2010 World Series of Poker, but that still makes him better than at least 7,300 other players that entered the event. Senti stands to make a bare minimum of $811,000 and even with the gap between him and chip leader Jonathan Duhamel of Canada, he’s going to play to win.

The 28-year-old American claims to play the game for the intellectual challenge and freedom it offers. His rapid rise in the game and that the payout he’s already received for making it as far as he has really hasn’t changed anything at all for himself and his wife. He told MinnPost.com, “My wife bought an iPad. That’s about it.”

He followed up by going a bit further into his motivations for playing the game, telling the website: “Having extra money allows me to protect the freedom I have now, to set my own schedule and be my own boss,” he said. “Now I don’t have to worry about the money as much, at least for a while. From a day-to-day standpoint, I don’t see it changing my life all that much.”

Senti began playing poker after watching a tournament on television. “I decided to give it a shot and deposited a few books online,” he told one website. Surprisingly, he found immediate success and while he attributes a lot of his early winnings to variance, it’s obvious to many that he’s one of the most dangerous players to make it to the final table because of the depth of his game. An instructor at a popular poker education website, Senti’s become most famous for his online cash games, ranging from $5/$10 to $50/$100 stakes, but tournaments have proved to be very rewarding for him.

His opponents know more about his playing style and personality than he will about them because of his appearances in educational videos, but Senti is confident in his game for good reason, despite one prominent poker site describing him as neither good nor bad for the game, just “meh.” He’s a proven performer who’s willing to learn about the game whenever possible, spending the interim period before the final table studying both his opponents’ game and his own, working on new strategies to get the most out of his short stack.

Even with his reputation as an intellectual player, however, Senti’s biggest gain in the WSOP was against a relative unknown, the aggressive David Assouline. He entered day 7 of the Main Event with a relatively paltry stack, running 69 out of 78 players. Knowing nothing about Assouline worked out to Senti’s advantage and he doubled his chip stack playing A5 against a pocket pair and making a full house on the river.

In addition to this year’s final table appearance, Senti finished 21st in the World Championship of Heads-Up No Limit Hold ‘Em at the 2009 WSOP. The tough field and high stress of that tournament certainly prepared Jason Senti for his place in poker history.

Heat overshadowing rest of NBA as season approaches

Fittingly one game on the NBA schedule has the first few hours of opening night all to itself. The Miami Heat opens with what is expected to be a championship season, playing the much-hyped reigning Eastern Conference champions, the Boston Celtics.

Miami Heat as Favorites and to win odds

The Heat dominated the offseason headlines because LeBron and Bosh decided to shift the balance of power in the league by joining fellow superstar Dwyane Wade in South Beach. Now the Heat are overwhelming 17/10 favourites to win the franchise’s second title and many believe Miami could threaten the Chicago Bulls’ record of 72 regular-season wins. Can LeBron get his first championship and third straight MVP award? Get close to the action with the Bodog courtside NBA betting guide where James is 9/2 to get another MVP trophy. The countdown has begun and the web’s leader will offer a special “Beat the Heat” betting promotion all season.

With all the buzz about the Heat, it’s almost like people have forgotten about a certain purple and gold team out West with a superstar of its own and a Zen master as coach. Of course that’s the Los Angeles Lakers, who are only the reigning two-time NBA champions. Phil Jackson goes for the fourth threepeat in his Hall of Fame coaching career, while Kobe Bryant looks for NBA championship No. 6, which would just so happen to tie him with Michael Jordan.

And don’t forget the Celtics, who pushed the Lakers to game seven in last year’s NBA Finals and brought pretty much the entire cast back for one more run while also adding Shaquille O’Neal. Shaq, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo and Co. are seen as the top competition for the Heat in the East.

Finally, can young Kevin Durant, the league’s youngest scoring champion ever, lead the up-and-coming Thunder past the mighty Lakers out West after also sparking the USA to a gold medal at this summer’s world championships? Durant, not LeBron or Kobe, is the 9/4 favourite to win the 2011 MVP award.

Those are just a few big storylines heading into what should be a memorable season. For all your NBA betting odds and props, choose the Bodog Courtside 2010/2011 NBA Betting Guide.…it pays to be close to the action! For updated odds all season long check out Bodog sportsbook daily.

Beat the Heat or Ride the Wave for up to $200 in Bonuses

Not since Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls dynasty was broken up has there been a more highly anticipated team to watch in the NBA than this season’s Miami Heat.

Bodog Sportsbook has come up with a unique way for you to bet either for or against this Eastern Conference powerhouse: “Beat the Heat.” Here’s how it works:

Bet for or against the Miami Heat at least once a week for the season. Bets must be singles on the spread or total of a Miami Heat game. Bet $50 every week of the season and win a $200 Bonus or bet $25 every week for a $100 Bonus.

Your total weekly handle includes all your single bets placed on the spread or total for a Miami Heat game for that given week (Mon- Sun). Example: If you bet $20 on the Heat’s point spread on Monday, $25 on their opponents point spread on a Wednesday and $20 on the total for their Friday game then your total handle is $65 ($20 + $25 + $20) for that given week.

You’ll receive an email each week confirming you’re still eligible for your bonus! Which side are you on? Beat the heat or ride their wave?

Play “Beat the Heat” at Bodog Sportsbook and get in on the courtside action!

NCAA Betting: Auburn Tigers Vs LSU Tigers

As programs throughout the country prepare for Week 8 of the NCAA college football season, the first BCS standings of the 2010 season have been posted. According to the BCS ranking system there will be a number of closely-rated teams squaring off this Saturday. There really is no better time to get off the couch and into the game.

Auburn Tigers vs LSU Tigers

Ranked fourth by the BCS is Auburn. This Saturday they will host No. 6-ranked LSU in a battle of legitimate title contending Tigers. Auburn has flourished with their running game, going undefeated in four games within the SEC and 7-0 overall.

LSU, on the other hand, has an identical record. Can the quarterback tandem of Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee power the Louisiana State to their fourth victory over Top 25 teams? Auburn will be their highest ranked opponent yet.

Wisconsin Badgers vs Iowa Hawkeyes

This Saturday also brings a clash between No. 13 Wisconsin and No. 15 Iowa. The Badgers are 6-1 this season with a 2-1 record against the Big Ten. The Hawkeyes have yet to lose in their two games with Big Ten opponents so far.

Oklahoma State Cowboys vs Nebraska Cornhuskers

No .14-ranked Oklahoma State will also host a closely-ranked opponent this weekend, No. 16-ranked Nebraska. The Cornhuskers have shown a dominant rushing game through the first half of the season, but fell to unranked Texas in Week 7. You can bet that 27-year-old Cowboys quarterback Brandon Weeden will bring it in front of the home crowd.

Be a player. Get your college football odds at Bodog Sportsbook.
