A poker biography of Chad Brown.
Name - Chad Brown
Born - Los Angeles, California, United States
Poker Rooms - Poker Stars
Chad Brown may seem like a familiar face to some. It’s probably because the New York City-born Brown is pursuing an acting career in Hollywood. His struggles have gotten him some film and television work – yet, he is still searching for that big Hollywood break.
However, even without the Hollywood break, Brown has been able to supplement his income through playing poker. He may even be able to earn more money solely from playing poker. He must have already played in all the casinos in California. Brown first sharpened his skills at the game while at the Bronx’s Italian cafes.
Brown started to play the tournament circuit in 1993. It was also during this year when he first made it to the WSOP at the $1,500 Limit Hold’em table. He was just a heartbeat away from the final table. It was in 2002 when he finally made it to the WSOP final table for Limit Omaha Hi/Lo. He placed third and took home $45,400. By 2004, he again made it to the WSOP final table, this time for the $1,500 Seven Card Stud. He finished second and earned $62,320. That same year, he made it to the World Series Circuit for a total pot winning of $288,322.
By 2006, Brown was back playing big again. He made it to the WPT and gained a total of $450,000 from several events. It was here where he placed ninth at the $25,000 championship. He also joined PokerStar’s London leg, where he pocketed a total of $110,345 in cash winnings. In 2007, Brown logged a $342,777 second place win at the World Series tournament’s $5,000 Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball event. He was also at the National Heads Up championship of NBC, where he earned a cool $250,000.
Brown is also a prolific player in the world of online poker. During PokerStar’s $5,200 H.O.R.S.E. Event in 2006, he surprised everyone by winning the grand prize. His take home cash prize was worth a whopping $223,150. It is no surprise that he is part of the team PokerStars Pro. Online, he is known as “ChadBrownPRO.”
When away from the poker tables, Chad sometimes plays host at the Ultimate Poker Challenge. In this way, he becomes a familiar face to poker fans, not just as a player but as commentator as well.
Whenever Brown is not involved with poker, he plays basketball with friends and even with former professional league players. Likewise, he devotes some time to his fellow Team PokerStar member and professional poker player Vanessa Rousso. Brown and Rousso are said to be dating.
In any case, Brown has made an impressive career for himself at professional poker. He has logged more than $2,000,000 in tournament winnings alone. In a way, Brown doesn’t even need to make it as an actor anymore. The Hollywood limelight is elusive, and he may need to do a lot more work and spend a lot more time in his acting career if he wants to pursue it. With his skill and luck at poker, he has found his success.
