Biography

At 26, success at his age is legendary. But unlike other young bloods in poker, Maciek Gracz doesn't let it get into his head. Although known as an aggressive player like Richard Lee, he's stayed loyal with his family and friends. At the end of the day, this is what Maciek Gracz considers to be his real world. Although the young poker star can get everything he wants with his multi-million dollar prize winnings, still the Polish player has remained humble and respectful of the game and other people.

On a Personal Note

Also known as "Mike" to his family and friends, Maciek Gracz later earned his title "The Kid" while playing in different poker tourneys. He learned to play poker as a teenager but kept his promise to his mother to finish college, just like poker pro, Roland de Wolfe, who holds a degree in Journalism. Mike (born October 23, 1980) was just a young boy when he came to the Untied States with his family. From Warsaw, Poland, his mom, who's now a biochemistry professor, decided to move to earn her doctoral degree. His father, on the other hand, opened a clinic to practice physical therapy. With the professional background of his family, it's no surprise at all that Mike followed the same steps of academic achievement. Attributed to his passion for numbers, he graduated as a Finance major at the North Carolina State University.

Apparently, even a business degree didn't stop Maciek Gracz from turning pro in his poker career. After graduating from college, the then 24-year old player found himself playing for money in different poker tables all over the country. However, he's the first to claim that it won't be possible without his good friend, Chris Bell, who helped him with the buy-in. Even as a successful player, he's always been grateful to Bell, hoping that someday, he'll meet him in the final table. The Polish player now lives at Raleigh, North Carolina.

Rising Above the Rest

In 2004, Maciek Gracz was among the 155 participants of the $5,000 No Limit Hold'em for the Trump Classic held in Atlantic City. This marks the young player's championship victory with as much as $295,275 prize winnings. The following years also proved to be a trail of poker success for "The Kid" after winning the World Poker Open's $3,000 No Limit Holdem match in 18th place and the No Limit Holdem championship round, making it to the 36th slot. He also finished in money at the L.A. Poker Classic's $2,000 No Limit Holdem event. However, its was in 2005 that Maciek Gracz later joined the league of self-made millionaires as a poker champion for the $10,000 Limit Holdem event of the World Poker Tour PartyPoker.com Million IV Cruise. He played against Paul Darden and other poker professionals. Needless to say, he came home $1,500,000 richer after the event.

Known for his patience and composure similar to Andy Black, Maciek Gracz is a proud owner of a World Series of Poker bracelet after winning $594,460 from the $1,000 No Limit Hold'em event. The 2005 Card Player Magazine's "Breakthrough Player of the Year" has more than $2,700,000 stashed in his bank account.
