NFL championships are always eagerly awaited by football fans. The National Football League has a huge number of watchers, being that football is one of the most popular sports in America. You may have your own favorite team or favorite NFL player as well. NFL players, particularly quarterbacks, typically have many fans and are awarded and ranked according to their performances. Below are just some notable players who have played in the NFL and have exhibited exceptional capabilities. 

Otto Graham

As the quarterback of the Cleveland Browns, Otto Graham managed to lead his team to ten championships in ten years, and even succeeded in winning seven titles. During Graham's last year as a football player, he won the Hickok Belt for the award of top professional athlete of the year. Ten years after that, he was made part of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Jerry Rice

As a wide receiver, Jerry Rice has played for various teams throughout his career. These teams include the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders, Seattle Seahawks, and Denver Broncos. By the time Rice retired, he had already established some records that are hard to beat. He has 1,549 receptions, 22,895 receiving yards, and 197 touchdown receptions.

Anthony Muñoz

Playing as an offensive tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals, Anthony Muñoz is considered as one of the most impressive offensive linemen in the history of NFL. He was selected for the Pro Bowl for 11 consecutive times, and in 1999, he was ranked by Sporting News as number 17 on the list of the 100 greatest football players. Among all the offensive linemen on the list, Muñoz ranked highest. 

Joe Greene

Playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers as a defensive tackle, Joe Greene quickly made a name for himself as a dominant defensive player. In 1969, he was named NFL's rookie of the year even though he played for the Steelers team that had a disappointing record of 1-13. Among his achievements are being selected ten times for the Pro Bowl and 11 times for the All-Pro selection.

Lawrence Taylor

The New York Giants surely didn't make a mistake when they chose Lawrence Taylor as linebacker for their team. He was picked ten times for the Pro Bowl selection and ten times as well for the All-Pro selection. He was also part of the NFL 75th Anniversary All-Time Team and the NFL 1980s All-Decade Team.

Deion Sanders

As a professional cornerback, Deion Sanders have played for different professional football teams throughout his career. These teams included the Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins, and Baltimore Ravens. In 1988, he got the Jim Thorpe Award, which is awarded to the top defensive back in college football. He has also been selected nine times for the Pro Bowl and nine times for the All-Pro selection.

Gale Sayers

Gale Sayers was a running back for the Chicago Bears, and during his rookie year, he scored a record of 22 touchdowns, gained 1,374 yards from scrimmage, and made 2,272 all-purpose yards. He was picked four times for the Pro Bowl and was a five-time member of the All-Pro selection.
