Nfl Records

Football is considered as one of the most popular sports in the United States, and this is why so many people watch the National Football League (NFL) games. Football fanatics also like keeping track of NFL records. These NFL records often feature the achievements of various NFL players or teams that surpass the feats of others. Nevertheless, there are also NFL records featuring the lowest caliber performances of NFL teams and players. Below are just some individual and team NFL records.

Individual Records

* Touchdowns

Jerry Rice, a wide receiver in the NFL, scored the most number of touchdowns during his career. He achieved 197 touchdowns between 1985 and 2004. As for the person who had the most touchdowns in a single season, Randy Moss of the New England Patriots gets the record for 23 touchdowns in 2007.  

* Passing

When it comes to passing, Brett Favre holds the record for most pass completions within his whole career. From 1991 to 2008, he has had 5,377 completed passes. Favre also has the most pass attempts, which is numbered at 8,758. Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints has the most pass completions in a season; he had 440 completed passes in 2007. As for the most pass attempts in a season, Drew Bledsoe of the New England Patriots holds the record at 691 attempted passes in 1994.  

* Average gain

The player with the highest average gain throughout his career is Randall Cunningham, with 6.36 average gain. Michael Vick holds the record for highest average gain in a season with 8.45, and he also holds the highest average gain in a game with 17.30.

Team Records

* Wins

The team with the longest winning streak during a regular season is the New England Patriots with 19 wins during 2006-2008, although the Patriots lost the Super Bowl XLII. The Chicago Bears also have a long winning streak at 17 wins from 1933 to 1934. As for holding the record for most consecutive games without defeat during a regular season, the Canton Bulldogs boasts of their 25 wins during 1921-1923, while the Chicago Bears come close with 24 wins during 1941-1943.   

* Losses

With their 26 losses in 1976-1977, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hold the record for the longest losing streak. This team is also the only team to go without a win in a season, which happened in 1976. Two teams hold the longest losing streak in a season, Carolina Panthers with 15 losses in 2001 and Miami Dolphins with 14 losses in 2007.

Super Bowl Records

* Individual player records

Hailed as an MVP during Super Bowl XVI, XIX, and XXIV, Joe Montana holds the record for most Super Bowl MVPs. Four players tied for the record of most points scored in a single game. Roger Craig, Jerry Rice, Ricky Watters, and Terrell Davis all hold the record of 18 points. These four players also hold the record for most touchdowns in a single game, all of them having achieved three touchdowns.  

* Team records

Three teams hold the record for most number of Super Bowl wins. The San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, and Pittsburgh Steelers all have five wins. As for the most number of Super Bowl losses, Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills, and Denver Broncos hold the record at four losses.
