Nfl Rookie Of The Year

Football happens to be one of the most popular sports in the United States. Because of this, many people eagerly await the NFL season when they can watch various football players in action. Fans also take note of the new players in certain teams to see whether they play well and whether they deserve the Rookie of the Year award. An NFL rookie is a player who is just in his first year as part of the NFL. Although a rookie is likely to be one of the youngest players on a team, he can be just as good-- if not even better-- than all the others. The Rookie of the Year award is given to the rookie who exhibits much promise and potential in becoming a great football player.

The Associated Press began awarding the Rookie of the Year award to NFL American football players in 1967. Since then, an offensive player and a defensive player got the award every year. Aside from the Associated Press, other awarding agencies that grant the Rookie of the Year award include Pro Football Weekly, Sports Illustrated, Diet Pepsi, and the Sporting News. These agencies are duly recognized by the NFL, although the Associated Press awards are still the ones considered as official.
