A poker biography of Shannon Elizabeth.
Name - Shannon Elizabeth
Born - Sep 7th 1973, Houston, Texas, United StatesPoker Room - Full Tilt Poker
While poker players become celebrities because of their astonishing skills, celebrities, on the other hand, become poker players. An example of this instance is "American Pie" star Shannon Elizabeth who played the role of Nadia, the chick from Czechoslovakia. In case you don't remember her in the film, maybe you know who won at the 1st Annual Nicky Hilton New Year's Eve Poker Tournament, held at the Caesar's Palace last January 2006.
Born in Houston in 1973, Shannon Elizabeth, her parents' only child, ventured as a cheerleader in high school and became a star in one music video in her own hometown. Her life seemed to be in a blast because before she knew it, she was in the film industry as an actress and a model. She appeared in films like "Jack Frost," "Scary Movie," and "Tomcats," and in television shows like "Cuts" and "That 70's Show." Aside from appearances onscreen, she also had some stints in the "Playboy" and "Maxim" magazine.
As an established actress in Hollywood, she had no idea that she would have another career which would make her even more popular---poker. Actually, she used to play poker with her beloved family when she still lived in Texas, but when she moved to California, she focused more on acting. However, thanks to the televised poker tourneys, Elizabeth became attracted to this game again. Soon, she met Jennifer Tilly (another actress), Phil Laak, and Antonio Esfandiari who encouraged her to join the poker bandwagon. With the help of these three influential poker experts, Elizabeth was able to develop her poker skills and eventually, got addicted to the game.
Like any other poker professional, Elizabeth joins online and live tourneys such as the World Series of Poker, the Las Vegas Poker Invitational, the Annual Celebrity Poker Tournament, and the Celebrity Poker Showdown. But her most notable game was at the Caesar's Palace where she outlasted 91 celebrity and professional poker players and bagged $120,000 as a first placer. A remarkable feat for a relatively new player, her win in the said tourney was followed by many more, as she brought home thousands of dollars already. Luck does not stop there, however, since she recently signed a contract with the world's major representation and marketing agency, Poker Royalty, and competed in the WSOP as among the representatives of Full Tilt Poker.
It is only natural for experts to experience a few losses here and there, and Elizabeth is no exemption. But, even though Elizabeth often experiences losses in her games, she still thrives on the table because of her firm belief that success is not achieved by quitting. In fact, she plays frequently to sharpen her skills and achieve more in poker because, with the money that she has been gaining from it, she considers poker as a second career.
Amazingly, this young woman also has other projects and interests outside both reel worlds. She helps in rescuing abandoned and abused animals with her founded organization called Animal Avengers. When not engaged in poker or in the aforementioned animal organization, Elizabeth spends most of her time shooting for her movie projects or making her other ambition, to excel in sports, come true.
